Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

Bharatpur bird sanctuary/keoladeo Ghana National Park is located in the Rajasthan state of India. The name Keoladeo is derived from an ancient Hindu temple inside the park, devoted to lord Shiva whereas ‘Ghana’ means dense, which refers to the thick forest, which used to cover the area. Bharatpur wildlife sanctuary is a home to over 400 species of unique, rare birds that includes the migratory water birds including the world’s famous Siberian crane. This sanctuary also shelters rare and endangered species of birds. You can also enjoy an exciting boat safari in Bharatpur National park to explore the natural beauty of the park. You can also hire a rickshaw to spot birds in the park. Rickshaw drivers are well trained and can be quite helpful in your bird spotting adventure.

The best time to visit Bharatpur bird Sanctuary is from August-November and October-February for migratory birds including Siberian Cranes.

After the super success of palace on wheels the railway ministry and RTDC has decided to launch another super luxury train in Rajasthan. This train will start from Jaipur and will travel to Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Sawai madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Agra. Usha poonia tourism minister of Rajasthan informed that this train will have two super deluxe suites, 13 deluxe saloons, 2 restobars, a spa, a boardroom and internet facility. To promote the tourism the state has also improved its infrastructure. The jaipur international airport runway will be extended from 9000 feet to 11,500 feet. Also the Udaipur airport will be the second international airport of Rajasthan.

THREE TOURIST CIRCUITS IN RAJASTHAN

Due to the tremendous increase in the tourist inflow to the state. Rajasthan will improve facilities at important tourist destinations. “The tourism department is developing three important tourist circuits-hadauti, jaipur and pushkar for making them more attractive and to provide all comfort to the tourist.” Rajasthan tourism minister Usha Punia said. The state government has sanctioned 14.63 crore for the development of these circuits. The minister said that apart from focusing on the important tourist centers- Jodhpur, Udaipur, mt.abu, jaisalmer, cittorgarh, Bikaner. The department would also develop some more circuits simultaneously. Also the state government has strengthened the tourist police to deal with the growing incidents of misbehavior with women.

SARISKA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Sariska is located in the high cliffs and in the valleys of Aravallis some 200 kms away from Delhi. From Jaipur Sariska is 120 kms away and it takes three hours by road. Jaipur is well connected by road, rail and air to most of the important cities in India. The forests are dry and deciduous. Within the sanctuary there are the ruins of medieval buildings. There is a 17th century castle on the top of sharp hilltop at Kankwari which provides a panoramic view of flying Egyptian vultures and eagles. The tiger reigns supreme in the forest of Sariska,but other animals like wild boar, blue bull and hare may been seen on a safari through the park. The best time to Sariska forest is between November and June. One can see most of the animals in the evening. The best way to visit a park is by jeep. Jeep can be arranged at forest reception office at Jaipur road.

The majestic white city palace located in the heart of Udaipur was started by Maharaja Udai Singh who founded the city of Udaipur. However, later on several additions were made to this palace by the succeeding maharanas. The Udaipur city palace has number of gates.Hati pole; the elephant gate provides you the entry into the palace. Then there is a Bari pole, the big gate leading you to another gate Tripolia, the triple gate. Crossing the tripolia gate, a courtyard is entered where in earlier dates elephant fights were staged. City palace towers over the lake Pichola.There are number of balconies, towers etc in the palace providing with an amazing view of lake. The old part of the palace complex today serves as a museum that stores the legacy of Rajput rulers for the visitors. The museum displays a rich collection of armory ranging from protective gears to the numbers of weapons, including the two pronged sword. The palace also has a Surya chopar, sun square which displays a huge ornamental sun.
